Anilee will share a few seeds of her own, then participants will take the time to write one together, based on collective themes and feelings of the group.
This is now a seed you can carry in your pocket, or plant in your community garden, or pollinate wherever it decides to show up in your life!
Explore self expression through song, deepen our connection to our voices, bodies and each other, and creatively collaborate for the greatest good <3
more about song seeds
From gospel spirituals to nursery rhymes, folk songs to chants, people have been gathering and singing short, repetitive, singable songs for hundreds if not thousands of years. to grieve, to heal, to protest, to celebrate. This is not a new concept and is deeply rooted in tradition.
Anilee has coined the term "Song Seed" to describe these short songs, because they feel like they can fit in your pocket, and you can take them anywhere you go.
They might feel like a snack to chew on while going about your day, but if you plant them, especially in a group, they can grow tall, vast, and organically, moving through seasons of expression and turning into something unexpected and powerful. Watch a clip of a session below.
